Philadelphia, PA – March 25th, 2026 – Thanks to a new grant from PetSmart Charities®, ACCT Philly will help more pets in Philadelphia get healthy, adoption-ready, and into loving homes. The $30,000 grant will support National Adoption Week events at local PetSmart stores Cottman,  Adams Ave, North Wales, and Willow Grove PetSmarts taking place March 23- 29, 2026.

Millions of pets find themselves in U.S. shelters each year, adding strain to many local shelters coping with stretched resources. With more than 100 pets waiting for their forever home, funds from PetSmart Charities support our organization and the local community by supporting adoptions and help expand foster our foster program. 

“Because of this funding, we’re able to directly support more adoptions while also growing our foster program—both critical to moving animals out of the shelter and into loving homes,” said Sarah Barnett, Executive Director at ACCT Philly. “These resources help us prepare pets for adoption and connect them with families more quickly, while also giving us the ability to place more animals in foster homes where they can decompress, heal, and thrive. For many of the animals we take in, foster care is the bridge that makes adoption possible. This grant allows us to expand that lifesaving network and ultimately help more pets find homes.”

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week is a special time during the year. Neighborhood PetSmart stores will host adoptable pets to meet and cuddle in spacious areas, and staff and volunteers are ready to make introductions and answer questions. Potential pet parents can also learn about the products and services they’ll need for the best possible start with their new family members.

• Cottman PetSmart: March 27th @ 4pm-6pm.
